Motorized Floor Jack to Move Vehicles in a Workshop or Storage Building
This video shares the design and operation of a motorized floor jack that will move a vehicle on a concrete floor. This is useful for easily and safely moving vehicles in a workshop and for pulling cars out of storage in the spring and for storing them in the fall. A 1.5 Ton American Made Blackhawk jack was combined with a newly designed and built, one of a kind, traction unit that will deliver up to 200 pounds of thrust. Design details include the method of attaching the traction unit to the jack, a way to move the jack using a transport wheel and most importantly some of the selection process for a heavy duty DC gearmotor. The traction unit has low profile and the full range of motion of the lifting tray of the jack is retained.
