Heights Death Trap Hydraulic Elevator @ Crate & Barrel @ The Westchester in White Plains, NY

I HATE THIS ELEVATOR!!!! It is a true death-trap, and is begging for modernization. On the first floor, it misses the landing by 5 inches, and has to re-level! It also slips, creaks and moans. The chime on this elevator is sickening and disturbing, because it is slow at leveling, so it gives the feeling that the elevator has stopped and the phone is ringing or an alarm has been set off. It used to be a glass elevator, but Crate & Barrel put an ugly white panel over the window. I am not sure what type of hydro it is, because I saw no evidence of the inground system. The window also makes it hard to be a holeless, unless it is a single- jack. Please comment if you know any other details. Also, I tried to get the machine room on this elevator, but the noises were too faint. Sorry! It wasn't really the machine room, but you could hear the motor faintly! Techincal Specs: Brand- Heights Elevator (3rd Party) Type- Single-Jack Single-Stage Hole-Less Hydraulic Capacity- 2000 lbs. Fixtures- EPCO Classic (The hall lanterns were broken and did not ring) Speed- 75 FPM

General Holeless Hydraulic Elevator at the Maryland Town House in Aberdeen, MD [Take 1]

Holy crap! I can't believe I was actually here! Dieselducy and dea41396returns have both ridden this elevator, and I am ecstatic that I got to experience this elevator for myself. It's just like it appears to be in the videos... only better in person. So this is what happened... I requested this rest stop to my teacher since we are all getting hungry on our long journey home from Washington DC. I then dozed off for a while since I was exhausted from the exhilarating events that I experienced in Washington DC. My friend then woke me up and announced that we had stopped to eat lunch. I saw the hose-like building and just sat there saying "No Way!" I ran inside only to be greeted by this wonderful piece of architecture and engineering. I was awed by its appearance and took my first ride. I didn't start filming right away because I just wanted to have my experience on it. As it leveled on the second floor, it appeared to be low on oil and gave a giant rumble. It never did it again, so I just let it go. After that ride, I ate at Sbarro and then started to film. Now lets briefly discuss the elevator. This is a fine example of a single-stage dual jack holeless hydraulic elevator. There is a significant difference between holeless hydraulics and inground hydraulics. This holeless hydraulic that I rode felt like it was lifting me, while the other inground hydraulics I rode felt like they were pushing me, so automatically there is a difference in the ride. I think this elevator had ...
