S-15 Std Trans and Bell Housing Removal - Part 7

Part 7 - This video shows the transmission removed using a standard floor jack and ratchet strap to secure the transmission to the jack. It also shows the exposed bell housing as well as the hole where you can see the release or throw-out bearing and release or throw-out arm. Additionally, if you look to the left you can see the hydraulic clutch that is attached to the bell housing. You will need to disconnect the hydraulic line attached to the clutch cylinder as well as remove the cylinder from the bell housing. There are two nuts that hold the cylinder to the bell housing stud bolts. This is Part 7 in removing the T-5 Tremec transmission and bell housing where the clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing are located. All of this work can be performed by anyone with a standard ratchet and sock set and a pair of drive up ramps, and a willingness to get dirty. Oh yes. Plan on taking your time. Working under a vehicle is dirty and sometimes frustrating. So set the expectation that removal will take about two half days of 6 hours each. If you do you can literally save $1500 in labor costs for about 6 hours to remove it and 6 hours to reinstall every thing. So $1500 divided by 12 hours means you're saving $125/hour in labor charges.
